Prop and Vehicle Research - History & How it's Made
The Egyptian Axe
- The Egyptian Axe was produced by Old Kingdom Egypt in 2000 B.C.
- The axe was constructed with bronze and it's blade was made in crescent shape.
- Usually used for slashing unarmed troop and hacking the wooden - framed shields.
- Some axes had holes on the side of axe made it detachable so it could be thrown or used to slice opponents.
- The Egyptians improved the design of the chaior by making it lighter, changing the position of the chariot's axle so that the driver would stand closer to it and covering parts of the axle with metal in order to reduce the friction between it and the wooden wheelhub.
The Egyptian Chariot
The chariot represented more of an Egyptian weapon platform than an actual weapon in itself and they were indispensable to Egyptian armies. They were usually built fast and light for speed and racing towards their enemies. The two wheeled vehicle would carry two people; the driver and soldier (usually an archer).
